Benin Ivory Box Lid The relief iconography on the ivory box lid depicts five military warriors, soldiers of King Oba. Far right and far left the figures are seen with military paraphernalia swords and shields. The three central figures are depicted with helmets embellished with an imported horsetail. The central character depicts King Oba with the typically flared legs being supported by two kneeling soldiers. The two kneeling figures to each side of King Oba also seem to be supporting or carrying him. Flowing rivers are depicted on the rims of the lid, and on each panel.
